Rochester City Council is considering whether to support a grant application for the GardenAerial project. The nonprofit Friends of the GardenAerial is planning a project consisting of three main elements: an arboretum on the Pont de Rennes bridge, a new pedestrian bridge spanning High Falls, and a public winter garden on the east side of the Genesee gorge.
Mayor Tom Richards has written legislation endorsing the nonprofit’s grant application to the state Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. City Council members will consider the legislation in committee this week, and will most likely vote on it next Tuesday at its monthly meeting. Committee meetings begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, at City Hall, 30 Church Street. — Christine Carrie Fien
