The Rochester school board meets tomorrow to review a draft of Superintendent Bolgen Vargas’s contract. Board members are expected to go into executive session, which is too bad; it could be an interesting discussion.
Vargas enjoys the support of the majority of the district’s teachers and union leader Adam Urbanski, as well as most board members. But the relationship between Vargas and a few board members has sometimes been chilly. It seems there’s a bit of frustration about the role of the school board and how involved it should be in the district’s day-to-day business. And there have been a few instances recently when board members have been in the dark about district announcements.
Tuesday night’s meeting will be at the district’s central office, 131 West Broad Street, at 5:30 p.m. – by Tim Louis Macaluso
Registered Republicans in five Monroe County towns will get to cast their votes in a Congressional primary tomorrow.
Former Erie County Executive Chris Collins and Iraq War veteran David Bellavia are seeking the Republican nomination for the 27th Congressional District, which sprawls across Western New York from the Buffalo area into Hamlin, Wheatland, Rush, Mendon, and part of Clarkson.
The winner will be the GOP’s general-election candidate against incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul.
Republicans across the state will select their party’s candidate for US Senate. That contest is a three-way race between Wendy Long, Bob Turner, and George Maragos. – Jeremy Moule

“THE DISTRICT’S TEACHERS AND UNION LEADER ADAM URBANSKI, AS WELL AS BOARD MEMBERS” ARE ALL MENTIONED IN THIS BRIEF. AS USUAL — WHICH CRITICALLY IMPORTANT STAKE-HOLDER GROUP IS MISSING???
The establishment should be ashamed of themselves. Our school are the laughing stock in the district. Our most of the school board members are using the school board as their personal piggy bank. When you look at the whole picture these people are not qualified to make decisions that concern the feeding of my dogs and yet we elect them into office year after year.
As a community member we need to look hard and make the correct choises and get every single one of those people out of office. Those so called leaders are a bunch of sell out and they are expliting our kids
